M-Fix Current Prices from February 2010

Labour Rate = £45/hour (no VAT) applied to standard recommended book time for task
Callout Charge (refer to map)	to 10 miles from Banbury = £15
	from 10-20 miles = £20
	from 20+ miles to edge of largest boundary = £30
	outside area if I have time = £50
Initial Diagnostic Checks/Investigations/Estimates = £45/hour + above callout charges.
Minimum Charge (under 30 miles from Banbury) = £50.00 (inclusive of callout Charge) for 1st hour
Minimum Charge (Over 30 miles from Banbury) = £75.00 (inclusive of callout Charge) for 1st hour
Daily rate: Work that is varied and is too complicated to work out a time will be charged at a daily rate or pro-rata (for less than a day) based on the work required. Please call to discuss if you have such a requirement.
M-Fix Policy of Fair Charging: Any set-time work (eg brake disc/pad replacement) is charged at the hourly rate, but this is applied to the recommended manufacturers' book time for the job in hand. Therefore if a job's time is stated as taking 1 hour, this is what I will base my charge time on. If I take longer, I won't charge extra UNLESS further remedial work is necessary (e.g. a bolt cannot be removed, another part needs replacing, etc).
Note: The callout charge is to cover my costs and time spent travelling & is applied to all work. I do not work from premises and insist that the vehicle to be worked on is in a place suitable for such work, and not on the the public highway - this is for safety & insurance reasons. The only exception to this is when you have broken down and need assistance.
Electrical Diagnostic Work: This is a specialist field of auto repairs, and as such the time taken to pinpoint a fault can be unknown. The hourly labour rate will be applied to all jobs of this nature, but I will always check with the customer regarding costs before proceeding when the time spent investigating becomes longer than expected.
Example job costings: E.G. 1. If you call me out to diagnose a brake fault (say book time is 1/2 an hour) at a village 9 miles away from Banbury, then the first visit total charge will be as follows: Callout = £20.00 + Initial Checks = £22.50, Total Charge = £42.50. However the minimum charge is £50 so in this case it would be a flat £50.00 E.G. 2. If you call me out to diagnose a brake fault (say book time is 1/2 an hour) at a village 25 miles away from Banbury, then the first visit total charge will be as follows: Callout = £60.00 + Initial Checks = £22.50, Total Charge = £72.50. However the minimum charge is £75 so in this case it would be a flat £75.00 E.G. 3. Work required = Major Service, plus front Brake Disc/Pad replacement in Banbury. Callout =£10, Service = £140, Brake Discs/Pads (1 hour) = £45, Labour Total Charge = £195 PLUS PARTS

Payment types accepted at time of finished work:



Debit Card preferred. There is NO extra fee for Debit Cards and paying this way helps me stay on the road as I don't have to travel to the bank each day.

Cash. All work is invoiced - even for cash work.

Personal Cheques - I no longer accept cheques due to the inconvenience of paying them in and my busy workload. If a cheque is the only way you can pay please ask - however there is a £10.00 charge for this.

Credit Card - credit card payments will incur a fee of 3.6% of the transaction value as I pass on my costs. American Express payments incur a 5.6% fee plus £4.00. Remember Debit Card payments have no fee.

Credit terms not available, therefore please be sure you have the means to pay before calling me out.

VAT: None charged for Labour as I am not VAT registered.

Labour prices for specific work shown below (excludes callout charge which applies to all work, or parts)

Mobile Electrical Repairs
Fault finding and repair for electrical short/open circuits = £45/hour
Faulty circuits such as lighting, switches, sunroofs, central locking = £45/hour

Electrical Installations
Install CD player head unit = £45.00 (fixed charge) assuming no alterations to wiring, otherwise £22.50
Install CD Autochanger unit = £45.00 (fixed charge)
Install Hands-Free Bluetooth Kit = £67.50 (fixed charge)
Install flashing roof beacon/wiring/switch= £67.50 including switch/wiring (fixed charge)
General Electrical Installation work = £45/hour

Engine Management & Fault Finding
Engine Management Diagnostic Check = £22.50
Investigate Airbag Warning Lamp illuminated = £22.50
Investigate ABS Warning Lamp Illuminated = £22.50
Investigate Air Conditioning faults = £45.00 (applies to selected models, please email with vehicle details). I do not re-gas, this is a diagnostic check of the electronics.
Rover V8 Engine Diagnostic Check (14CUX system - see main page for details) = £22.50. Additional work to trace & replace faulty component(s) = £45/hour + parts prices
General Fault finding - e.g. wiring/component problems = £45/hour
Air/Fuel ratio on-road tuning (same as rolling road tuning but done whilst driving, data is recorded and realtime data can be seen). Printout available after each test. = £45 per test including 10 mile road journey.

Water Leak Detection
Basic water ingress detection = £45 (access to mains tap required at your location)

Quality of work: I endeavour to repair your vehicle to the highest standards, and am always looking to improve my service. Work carried out can sometimes cause consequential damage - i.e. when corrosion is present or damaged parts have to be removed. In these circumstances additional parts may be required to finish the job.
