Working in the Motor Trade since 1992, I have experience in both the Main Dealer environment and running a workshop of my own, under the business name of Minifix (specialising in the original Mini). My experience includes all types of Servicing/Repairs, Engine & Electronic Diagnostics, MOT Testing, Spare Parts Supply and Bodywork/Restorations.

Electrical Repairs Guaranteed


Having worked in a main dealer for a number of years, you can be assured that most types of electrical/electronic fault have been experienced.
Whilst specialist equipment is necessary for many new vehicles, there are still some operations that can be carried out including: Ignition problems & misfires, starting faults and non starts, warning lamps illuminating (e.g. ABS/Airbag), etc etc. All repairs are carried out to exacting standards and workmanship is guaranteed. If for any reason I am unable to fix a particular fault, you will be charged only for the call-out and diagnostic checks. I do have many specialist diagnostic tools allowing a large range of makes/models to be diagnosed. Please see price list for further details

Mobile Diagnostic Checks - Most Cars Can Be Checked
  • Trace/repair faults with engine management using modern equipment.
  • Second opinion given for work where you are unsure whether you have been given the correct diagnosis.
  • Now available for Autumn 2007 is the Rover V8 diagnostic check, for all vehicles fitted with the 14 CUX Type ECU System which have a diagnostic 4 pin socket. Should cover all TVR Chimaera's & Griffiths fitted with Catalytic convertors. Also some Marcos, Morgan, Land Rover, Range Rover models etc etc. See link below for price list.
  • From 12th Sept 2008 - a diagnostic check is now available for the Classic Mini fitted with the 1.3 SPi (Single point injection) engine - e.g. 1990's Mini Cooper etc. MPi injection models can also be checked - please call or email for details.

Mobile Mechanical Repairs - Renault & Classic TVR specialist

  • General Servicing is no longer available - from June 2010 due to workload.
  • Certain mechanical repairs can be undertaken, depending on workload. If you have a specific question please call or email to discuss.
  • Cambelts - I ask that these are limited to Renault now again due to my workload. Always worth calling as in quiet times I do consider this work on other makes.
  • Engine coolant system health check service. This is most important before winter and holiday times to catch any faults before they could get serious. Coolant level, mixture, water pump condition, hose condition, thermostat operation and cooling fan operation are all checked.
  • Ford V6 Essex engine also my speciality including performance tuning & general serciving - useful for owners of Ford Capri, Ford Granada, TVR 3000M &3000S, Marcos, old Ford Transit Vans etc.

Engine Tuning

  • Fuel mixture data logging service now available from May 2008. This will be most useful for people who have modified their engine & require correct carb jetting or fuel/air ratio diagnostics. . Similar to rolling road tuning, except data is collected from road testing the vehicle giving a competitive price for people with lower budgets. The ideal solution for correct fuel jetting prior to a rolling road session, or simply to get the car driveable. Printout available at end of test, prices to appear once this service becomes operational.

    Typical Work Undertaken

  • Most common jobs include being called out to jump start vehicles with flat batteries, diagnose & repair vehicles unable to get to a repair garage, put out service lights, also ABS/Airbag warning lights especially as these lamps must work then extinguish to enable an MOT pass. In the winter it's heater fans not working and drum brakes seized up!
  • Engine flood damage checks - this is becoming more common, especially on Turbo Diesel vehicles which readily suck water in when driving through deep floods. Although commonly the engine can be seriously damaged, It is sometimes possible that no damage has ocurred and the vehicle can be restarted after a few procedures.
